Wilma Jean (Nettles) McGill

Wilma Jean McGill, 82, of Ridgeland, SC passed away January 7, 2022.  She was born on September 12, 1939 in Cheraw SC to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Lewis and Linner Dean Nettles. She was married to the late Mr. Buddy McGill for 37 years. "MaMa" was a wonderful homemaker who doted over her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved having her family close.  Ms. Wilma, as she was known to her children's friends, always had an open door for them with a hot meal ready, if they were hungry.  For those who knew her, knew she loved to visit on the front porch.  She was the last of 10 children and enjoyed a special bond with each of them.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Jimmy McGill (Cheryl), Davey McGill (Barbara Ann), one daughter, Yvette Vaigneur (Jeremiah), three grandchildren: Erin Elton (Sanford), Jamie McGill (Heather), Jonah Vaigneur, three great grandchildren: Caleb Conway, Anna McGill, Abby McGill, and a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.  

The family would like express a special thanks to the Staff of Ridgeland Nursing Center and Compassus Hospice for the special care they gave to their mother.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 12:00 pm in Great Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, 9009 Tarboro Road, Ridgeland SC 29936.  The family will receive guests beginning at 11:00 am till the hour of service in the cemetery.
