Verna Lee (Sauls) Cope

    Verna Lee Sauls Cope, 95, of Ridgeland, SC passed away July 18, 2022. She was born on February 15, 1927, in Ridgeland, SC to the late Mr. Stuart and Mrs. Ruby Heape Sauls.

    Ms. Verna worked as the manager of Barron’s Clothing Store in Ridgeland for many years. She was an avid golfer, and her family knew, if they wanted to see her, they had to go with her to the golf course. It is hard to summarize a life like hers, in a few sentences, but her family has many, many fond memories of her life.

    Left to cherish her memory are three sons, “Butchie” Cope (Susan), Jerry Cope (Nancy), Ricky Cope (Dixie); two daughters, Patricia Davidson (Lamar), Wanda Cope (Ernie); one sister, Inez Scoggins; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband Elliott L. “Tookie” Cope, three brothers, one sister and one great grandchild.

    A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Ridgeland Cemetery, Ingram Street, Ridgeland, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am at the cemetery.
