Vera Claire Malphrus Floyd answered the call of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 20, 2024. She was born on August 15, 1930, in Ridgeland, SC to the late Raymond and Aline Mock Malphrus.
In 1947 she was a proud graduate of Ridgeland High School. On May 22, 1948, she was married to the late Willard Wilson “Bill” Floyd, Sr. Vera and Bill were founding members of Faith Baptist Church. Vera Claire was a faithful member of Tillman Baptist Church and Great Swamp Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian and prayer warrior who had a servant’s heart filled with love and compassion for everyone. She was known for her green thumb and love of hummingbirds. Vera Claire was employed by United Telephone Company of the Carolinas and later with Jasper County General Hospital until retirement.
Left to cherish her memory are two children, Melinda Vaigneur (Jerry) and Billy Floyd (Esther); three grandchildren, Valerie V. Tuten (Avery), Jeremiah Vaigneur (Yvette), Dylan Floyd (Stacy); four great grandchildren, Victoria and Alexis Tuten, Jonah Vaigneur, Macy Grace Floyd; one sister, Virginia Byles; sisters-in-law: Dan Lowther and Judy Roberts; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by four brothers, LaVal Malphrus, Royce Malphrus, John Roberts, Jimmy Roberts and one sister, Eula Lee Price.
A funeral service will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, 11:00 am at Vaigneur Funeral Home, Ridgeland, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until the hour of service. Vera Claire will be laid to rest in Floyd Cemetery, Tillman, SC.
