Tommie Jenkins

Tommie Jenkins, 78, passed away on January 23, 2022. He was born on October 22, 1943, in Charleston, SC, to the late Mr. Walter and Mrs. Ella Mae Waltz Jenkins. Tommie retired from the Town of Ridgeland, SC, as the Ridgeland Fire Chief. For many years, he served as the Jasper County Coordinator for the Volunteer Fire Services. Through his volunteer program many of our local firemen were able to start their careers and later move into paid positions with other departments. While serving as Fire Chief, he hosted many Halloween haunted houses and dances for the community children at the fire station. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Jenkins; sons, Jonah Jenkins (Lani), Patrick Jenkins; step-sons, Jason Benton, Clay Benton; daughter, Tisha Jenkins; sister, Vicki Sweat (George); nieces, Ronda Belger, April Campbell; nephews, Eddie Nettles, Terry Jenkins, Jr; and a host of grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by one son, Charlie Jenkins, Jr; one brother, Terry Jenkins. 

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022, 5:00 pm, at Lakeside at Blue Heron, 153 James Taylor Drive, Ridgeland, SC.
