Shelby Jean (Rushing) Green

Shelby Jean Rushing Green, 84, passed away on April 7, 2022, at Sprenger Healthcare of Bluffton, SC. She was born October 1, 1937, in Scotia, SC to the late Mr. Robert and Mrs. Hattie McCoy Rushing.

Shelby volunteered for 25 years at the Navy Marine Corp Relief Society until she was hired and served 10 years working her way up to be Executive Director in Charleston, SC until retirement. Shelby was an active member of Red Dam Baptist Church and served as the nursery director for many years at various Baptist Churches. She enjoyed various hobbies including bowling and traveling.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Vivian Green; two sons, Ronald Wayne Green (Donna) and Leonard Dale Green (Annette); brother and sister-in-law, Pinky and Julia Rushing; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Shelby was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Mr. Ronald Kay Green; two sisters, Joyce Sutler and Helen Peeples.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Vaigneur Funeral Home Chapel, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC 29936. The family will receive guests beginning at 1:00 pm till the hour of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridgeland Cemetery, Ingram Street, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
