Sanford Elton

    Sanford Joseph Elton, 48, of Springfield, GA passed away Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born on May 10, 1974, in Savannah, GA to Ms. Cheryl Copeland Elton and the late Mr. William Hugh Elton, Jr.

    Sanford was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield, and worked for the City of Pooler, GA for over 25 years as a Canal Maintenance Supervisor. In his off time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid trapper.  He was a loving son, brother, father, husband and stepdad. When his daughters played softball, he was one of the coaches for their team.

    Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Erin McGill Elton, mother, Cheryl Elton, two daughters, Annie Shepherd (Jake), Josie Elton, brother, Hugh Elton (Rhonda), nephews, Marc Elton (Madison), Zach Elton and stepson, Caleb Conway.

    Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Springfield, 1435 GA-119, Springfield, GA 31329. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am until the hour of the service at the church. Burial will be private following the service.
