Samuel (Sammy) Laurence Nettles, 69, of Ridgeland left this earth late Friday night on May 8, 2026. He was survived by his wife Kim Nettles, his children Paul Nettles (Steven), Kristen Stanley (DeAndrae), and Kaitlen Nettles, along with his bonus daughter who he loved as his own Jessica Nettles, two brothers Henry Nettles and Frankie Nettles (Deborah), five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Sammy was born September 21, 1956, to James Warren Nettles and Ruby May Price Nettles. He was a man of many jobs. Most notably, he was a volunteer firefighter in Jasper County for over 20 years. He also spent the majority of his life driving heavy machinery whether that be in construction, gas trucks, asphalt trucks, or tow trucks. In his free time Sammy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially outdoors fishing or while drinking coffee at the Waffle House. Sammy had a heart of gold and will forever be missed by everyone who knew him.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings: Jimmy Nettles, Susie Breland, Jean Anderson, and Micheal Nettles, and one grandchild: Steven Fagan Jr.
A visitation will be held at Vaigneur Funeral Home on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 6pm-8pm for family and friends to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Vaigneur Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. You may donate using the donations tab at the top of the page or by phone at 843.726.4700
