Samuel Ebenezer Jenkins, Jr., 61, of Gillisonville SC, passed away on October 23, 2021. He was born in Ridgeland SC on January 12, 1960, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Harriett Langford Jenkins.
Sam retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation as the Encroachment Officer for the Ridgeland office. After retirement, he worked for Thomas Heyward Academy as a maintenance engineer. He was a member of Gillisonville Baptist Church and enjoyed being active in their brother hood. Helping others brought great joy to Sam, and he was always willing and available when someone had a project or emergency. He especially loved children, and they loved him. Any child that spent any time around Sam soon fell in love with his caring and giving spirit. For those who knew him best, knew he had a loving soul. The best way to describe Sam Jenkins is, he was a "Gentle Giant".
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Harry Jenkins, an "adopted" son, Ira Cook (Summer), four grandchildren; Christopher Cook (Kyia), Hunter Wilcox, Cameron Cook, Hayden Cook and a host of family and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to Gillisonville Baptist Church, 10168 Grays Highway, Ridgeland SC 29936, or Thomas Heyward Academy, 1727 Malphrus Road, Ridgeland SC 29936.
A graveside service, to celebrate his life, will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday October 27, 2021 in Gillisonville Baptist Church Cemetery, 10168 Grays Highway, Ridgeland SC 29936.
