Rhonda Turner Mestey, 52, of Ridgeland SC, passed away peacefully at her home on May, 28, 2022. She was born on January 23, 1970, to the late Mr. Freddie Crouse, and to Mrs. Neta Wesson Horry.
Rhonda grew up on the river and loved being with family and friends. She was proud to tell people that her father was a commercial shrimper. She attended Calvary Christian School and Thomas Heyward Academy, graduating high school in 1988. Rhonda received her Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of South Carolina, and was a proud Gamecock. After college, she was employed at Palmetto Electric Cooperative as a dispatcher; Hargray Communications, advancing to the level of Engineering Technician; and SCE&G, through the company’s transition to Dominion Energy. Throughout her time as an engineer, Rhonda made many friends. She loved her job and any opportunity to help people, her family, her friends, and her pets. Once, Rhonda owned a pet service named “All of God’s Creatures”.
Left to cherish her memory, along with her mother, are one son, Kenneth Quentin Turner; two daughters, Summer Brielle Mestey and Bonnie Martha-Evelyn Crouse (daughter of Fran Crouse); one brother, Fred Wesson Horry; one grandson, Tyler Dennis Oliver; her former husband and companion, Tony Mestey, and his children; her stepfather, Edward Horry; a special friend, Lisa Peeples Melvin, and many other friends and loved ones. She was predeceased by one sister, Fran Crouse; and Quentin’s father, Kenny Turner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Vaigneur Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Ridgeland Cemetery, Ingram Street, Ridgeland, SC.
