Paula Suzanne Ryan

Paula Suzanne Ryan was born on September 21, 1954, in Louisville, Georgia. She died February 20, 2020 at the age of 65 in Winnsboro, South Carolina. Paula suffered from deteriorating health the final years of her life, suffering from lung disease and heart problems.

She grew up with her parents, Dr. Charles and Virginia Ryan and her siblings in Ridgeland, South Carolina.

Paula graduated from Thomas Heyward Academy in 1972. After high school, she moved to Utah for a short time. However, she couldn’t wait to get back home and spent most of her life in Ridgeland.

Paula met Frank Singleton in the late 1980s and they would be together until his death in 2009. They married in 2004 in an outdoor ceremony.

Paula had twenty-four nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She played a major role in their lives. She was always kind and generous to her nieces and nephews, her only demand was to always be referred to as “Aunt Paula”.

Paula loved children and animals. She had several dogs and cats throughout her life. After her husband’s death, Paula dedicated herself to caring for several rescued dogs.

Paula moved to Winnsboro in 2018, to live closer to her life-long friend Dub Miller. She lived there with her two dogs, Daisy and Ghost.

She is survived by her aunt, Syble Hollingshead, her sister Sharon Shay (John), and her brothers Chuck and Mike Ryan (Debbie) in addition to her 24 nieces and nephews and their children. She crossed paths with her newest great-nephew, Alexander Rees, on her way home to her husband, Frank, her mother, Virginia, her father, Charles, her grandparents, Hazel and Millard Jones and many other loved ones that went on before.

Paula will be cremated, and Vaigneur Funeral Home will conduct a graveside service on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 am at Ridgeland Cemetery, Ingram Street, Ridgeland, SC.

The family asks that donations be made to Jasper County Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers, in memory of Aunt Paula.
