May Nolte

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Mavis “May” Jean Nolte, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on June 12, 2026. Born on October 10, 1964, in Glendale, WV, May was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished forever.

May was the cherished daughter of Richard and Doris Ford. She was predeceased by her dear mother, Doris, and several beloved extended family members. Her spirit lives on through her husband of nearly 35 years, Paul Nolte, who she married on June 22, 1991, in Moundsville, WV. 

May was the proud and loving mother of Chelsea Dudney, who, along with Chelsea’s husband Josh, will carry forward May's legacy of nurturing love. May’s heart was fullest around her grandsons, Lucas and Landyn Dudney, and she eagerly anticipated the arrival of a third grandchild. Her joy in spending time with them was immeasurable, and her influence will continue to guide them throughout their lives.

She is also survived by her sisters, Jonette Muntz and Cindy Peterson, who, along with Cindy’s husband John, shared countless cherished memories with May. Her nieces, Amanda (Colter) Meabon and Sara Peterson, her nephew, John (Jackie) Peterson, including several great nieces and nephews, will forever remember May’s sassy sense of humor, her sweet personality, and her generous spirit.

A graduate of Jamestown High School in 1982, May was known for her vibrant personality and her ability to make everyone feel like family. She didn’t know a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel at ease. Her friends and family often marveled at her open-heartedness and her forthright nature — you never had to guess what she was thinking, and her honesty was always wrapped in kindness.

May’s love for her family was only matched by her love for life. Her sassy sense of humor was a hallmark of her personality, and she brought light and laughter wherever she went. Her huge heart and sweet spirit will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find solace in the joy she brought into our lives. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts.
