Mary Louise (Mills) Woods

Mary Louise Mills Woods, 86, of Ridgeland, SC passed away on July 11, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 22, 1936, in Ridgeland, SC to the late Mr. Harry H., Sr. and Mrs. Julia Gray Mills.

Ms. Mary Lou graduated in 1953 from Ridgeland High School and worked as the Assistant Treasurer for the Jasper County Government for many years.  She loved her classmates and continued to meet monthly with the “Lunch Bunch”. She also enjoyed cooking at home, preparing large meals for whomever could stop by and eat. Ms. Woods was “Momma” and “Grand Momma” to many outside her family. One of the family’s greatest memories is the songs she had in her heart, which were expressed through her humming.

Left to cherish her memory are three sons, Elliott Woods, Jr. (Janis), Mark Woods, Sr. (Lisa), Jim Woods (Lindy); two daughters, Genie Smith (Wallace), Sarah Santana (Roger); one brother, Harley H. Mills, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Mills, Dora W. Nuchols; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott Eugene Woods, Sr. and  two brothers, Jimmie P. Mills and Ronald Gray Mills.

A graveside service will be held at 9:00 am, on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Grahamville Cemetery, 3234 Smiths Crossing, Ridgeland, SC. 

The family wishes to express a heartfelt “Thank you” to everyone at Crescent Hospice for the care they provided to Ms. Mary Lou and the family.
