Mark Altman

Mark Francis Altman, 63, of Ridgeland SC passed away on April 10, 2023. He was born on July 19, 1959, in Jacksonville FL, to the late Mr. Joseph Altman and Mrs. Evelyn Hubbard Willard.

During his career in law enforcement, he worked as a security guard for Palmetto Dunes on Hilton Head Island, a detective for the Bluffton Police Department and later became a Captain with the Ridgeland Police Department before his retirement. Mark served in the SC Army National Guard for seven years. He enjoyed being in the river, shrimping and fishing. Maintaining his yard was important to him, and he enjoyed being outdoors. He also loved the American Bald Eagle and watching them when he could spot one flying. Mark loved his family and especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren.

The family would like to say a special thank you to: Debbie Smith, Randy Kinison, Jocelyn Brown, Rita Smith, and Yvette Vaigneur for their assistance during Mark’s illness.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tammy Altman; children, Mark Altman (Jenika), Justin Altman; grandchildren, Autumn, Mason, Lilly, Eisley, Colton; mother, Evelyn Willard (Kent); brothers, Miles Altman (Bonnie), Don Willard, Scott Willard (Twiggy). He was preceded in death by two children, Jason and Sommer Altman.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Coosawhatchie Baptist Church, 3853 Morgandollar Road, Coosawhatchie, SC 29912. A visitation will be held beginning at 1:00 pm until the hour of the service at the church.
