Margarett Ann (Hall) Hubbard, 84, of Hardeeville SC passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022, at the Ridgeland Nursing Center in Ridgeland SC.
Margarett was born on July 23, 1937, in Richmond VA, to the late Howard Lee Hall, Sr. and Essie Virginia Harris Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Aubrey Hubbard and first-born son, Thomas Lee Hubbard.
She is survived by two sons: James Daniel, Sr. (Sandra), Donald Lewis, Sr. both of Hardeeville, SC, one daughter, Rebecca Ann of Las Vegas NV., five grandchildren: James Daniel, Jr. (Estelle), Donald Lewis, Jr., Thomas James (Kathleen), Jesse Rae (Brendan), Semera Hailee, eight great grandchildren: James III, Skylar, William, Xander, Tripp, Oliver, Benjamin, and Caleb. She is known to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren lovingly as “Nanny” and “Ma Hubbard” to many.
Margarett was a graduate of John Marshall High School, class of 1955, where she enjoyed playing cello in the school chorus. After high school she married and eventually moved to South Carolina where she raised her four children as a loving, doting mother and homemaker.
Margarett worked for Holiday Inn as executive housekeeper for over 25 years. She also worked for Westin in Savannah GA. She was a long-time member of Hardeeville Baptist Church.
She enjoyed time with her family most of all, especially if there was a good ball game or race going on. She was a wonderful cook and baker willing to feed anyone entering her home. She would bless your heart and keep your sweet tea topped off. When you needed her ear, she always had the coffee pot ready. Although Margarett lived and made South Carolina her home for over 65 years, she was a true Virginia girl at heart.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at the Ridgeland Nursing Center, Crescent Hospice and especially to her Daughter-in-law Sandra who was her main caregiver over the last several years.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday January 20, 2022, at 11:00 am in Maye River Baptist Church Cemetery, 3507 Okatie Highway, Bluffton SC 29909.The family will receive guests from 10:30 until the hour of service in the cemetery.
