Lonnie Marion Cleland

Mr. Lonnie Marion Cleland, 91, of Ridgeland, SC passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 6, 2018. He was born on April 9, 1927, in Ridgeland, SC to the late Mr. and Mrs. Marion and Lizzie Bell Malphrus Cleland.

Mr. Lonnie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired as a Rail Switchman from Seaboard Railroad. He was a terrific storyteller with a great sense of humor, an avid fisherman and an outdoorsman. He was a loving brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Mr. Lonnie is survived by his daughter, Tandi Marshall; three grandchildren, Ashlyn Huffstickler (Andrew Wilson), Tristen Blanton and Mikayla Blanton; three great grandchildren, Skyla Grace, Kayleigh Aynn, and Bryson Andrew; two sisters, Mildred Sheffield and Verna Thames; and one sister-in-law, “Bootsie” Roach-Burnsed. He was predeceased by his wife, Faye C. Cleland, and one brother, Ted Roach.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Vaigneur Funeral Home Chapel, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Ridgeland Cemetery, Ingram Street, Ridgeland, SC.
