Kirk Lane Malphrus, Sr.

     Mr. Kirk Lane Malphrus, Sr., 76, of Ridgeland, SC passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville, SC.  Mr. Malphrus was born on December 28, 1941 in Ridgeland, SC to the late Mr. and Mrs. Seabrook and Cynthia Mason Malphrus.

     Kirk was involved in many activities throughout his life. He was a Sunday school director, church training leader, youth group leader, a Deacon, and Deacon Chairman at Great Swamp Baptist Church, a Master Mason and past Master of American Lodge 98.  Mr. Kirk loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed gardening and tending to his flowers.  He worked as a supervisor for Malphrus Construction Company where he helped build many golf courses in the Lowcountry, and worked for the SC Forestry Commission as Jasper County Fire Warden and a Forest Ranger.

     Surviving Mr. Malphrus is his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Miles Malphrus; one daughter, Mary M. Cooper; one sister, Joanna Daring; one granddaughter, Whitney Malphrus, and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by one son, Lane Malphrus.

      A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Great Swamp Baptist Church, 9009 Tarboro Road, Ridgeland, SC.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until the hour of the service at the church.
