Keith Smith

     Keith William Smith, 65, of Grays, SC passed away on September 12, 2025. He was born on May 28, 1960, in Hampton, SC to the late Mr. and Mrs. William L. and Johnnie Mixson Smith.

     Keith was the owner and operator of Keith’s Country Store in Grays and retired from the SC DOT after thirty-three years as an Engineering Technician 4. He was an avid Carolina fan and attended games with his friends as often as possible. Active and invested in his community, Keith lived and supported a rural lifestyle. He was a farmer and grew corn and soybeans; he loved his tractors and his truck. He served on the Soil Conservation Board and on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors in Ridgeland, SC. Dove hunting was one way Keith enjoyed spending time and traveled to Argentina and South Dakota to hunt. Keith never met a stranger and will be missed by his family and his many friends.

     Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Merideth Smith; stepdaughter, Elisha Smith (Grover); brother, Sherwood Smith (Robin); sister, Lisa Elliott (Warren); grandchildren, Louie Smith (Brooklyn), Logan Smith; great grandson, William “River” Smith, his special little "Jelly Bean" Lucas Horton and a host of very special nephews and nieces that he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his niece, Chasity Lynn Smith and bonus son, E. Darry Linder.

     Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 4611 Beaver Dam Road, Ridgeland, SC. Burial will follow the service at Grimes Cemetery, Grays Hwy, Early Branch, SC. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC.
