Kay Smoak Drew passed away peacefully at her home on February 20, 2026, which she shared with her daughter surrounded by her family and loved ones. Kay was born on November 7, 1950 to the late Rev. Leon T & Birdie Lee Smoak in Beaufort, SC. Kay was a devoted Daughter, Wife, Mother, Friend, Sister and Nana to many.
As a child Kay’s faith was evident in who she was and never left her side. She was raised as the eldest child of a Preacher and spent much of her childhood in her dad's church, listening to him preach with her siblings and singing hymns. Kay's upbringing created the woman she became with a strong faith, love of Fellowship and the spirit of song. Her love of singing remained throughout her life with hymns of worship.
In her late teens she met and married the love of her life of almost 50 years, Leroy Drew. This started her true vocation as a Homemaker, a devoted Wife and a loving Mother, a job not only she loved but excelled at. Kay and Leroy created a home, raising their four children filled with laughter, love and a lasting legacy. This legacy included her 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. The job of Nana was her greatest joy besides being a mother to her own children.
Kay was preceded in death by both Parents, loving husband, sister in laws Polly Horton, Carol Watson and Gladys Smoak and her most Beloved son Jason Drew. Surviving are her children - Lee (Jennifer) Drew, Lisa (Barry) Lowther and Jamie (Abby) Drew. Grandchildren - Dustin (Angela) Slowik, Brianna Lowther, Barry Lowther, Chandler (Roxy) Drew, Emily Lowther, Hunter Drew, Reganne Drew, Ava Lowther and Caleb Drew. Great Grandchildren - Wolf Wade, Effie Wade, Ava Slowik, Isla Slowik and her uncle and aunt, Randolph and Alice Craven.
