Karen Marie Allmond, 63, passed away in March of 2025 after a period of declining health. Though her time was cut short, she lived with strength, grace, and an enduring passion for learning, laughter, and connection.
Born in Oklahoma City to Nancy Lund and Doug Murfield, Karen’s life was marked by her tenacity, sharp wit, elegance, and deep dedication to education. Her career spanned both elementary and university classrooms, where she inspired countless students and future educators. Earning her Doctorate of Education was one of her proudest accomplishments, and she often reflected on how meaningful her work in shaping young minds had been.
Beyond the classroom, Karen was a vibrant member of her community. She actively participated in numerous organizations and social committees, always bringing her trademark warmth and generosity. Her love for golf and entertaining made her a beloved presence—whether on the course or hosting friends, her radiant smile could brighten any room.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Lund. She is survived by her loving children, Brittany McCarty and her husband Jesse, and Miles Stelly and his wife Morgan; as well as her cherished grandchildren: Parker, Jaxson, Georgia, Stella, and Emma. She also leaves behind her sister, Kimeth Helsel, and Kimeth’s husband Greg; her father, Doug Murfield; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
The number of lives Karen touched is immeasurable. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD Education Foundation at EMSISD Education Foundation | Help support the Education Foundation! in her memory—a tribute to a life lived with heart, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to others.
