Joseph L. Rael

Joseph L. Rael, 87, of Ridgeland, SC passed away on February 10, 2025. He was born on September 2, 1937, in Santa Fe, NM to Abenicio and Rosana Medina Rael.

Joseph served and was stationed at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, ME from 1958-1962, where  in 1960, he met his future bride, Erdine Gagnon of Caribou, ME. Mr. Rael worked and retired after 35 years from United Airlines as an Aircraft Mechanic. Once retired, Joseph and Erdine made their home of 29 years in Ridgeland, SC.

Joe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Erdine; his children, Lynn Wilczynski of Varnville, SC, Wanda Kane (Robert) of Perkinston, MS, Joseph L. Rael, Jr. (Jayme) of Woodstock, Il, Adam Rael of Hampton, SC; brother, Jake;  sisters, Agnes, Josephine; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Abenicio I. Rael, Thomas Rael, his sister, Ernestine Harmon, and infant son, John.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, 10128 S. Jacob Smart Blvd., Ridgeland, SC.
