Iola Rivers Sapp

Ms. Iola Rivers Sapp, 93, of Ridgeland SC, passed away, surrounded by her family, on August 23, 2021.  Ms. Sapp was born on July 22, 1928, in Rincon Ga., to the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Alma Zipperer Rivers.

Ms. Sapp graduated from Savannah High in 1946.  She and her husband, of 71 years, the late Mr. Perry Lee Sapp, Sr., resided in Hardeeville.  They were members of First Baptist Church of Hardeeville, where she served in several teaching and service positions.  Ms. Iola worked in retail fashion in Savannah Ga for many years. She enjoyed keeping her home and tending to her flower garden, but the true joy in her life, was her family.

Left to cherish her memories are, two sons: Perry “Butch” L. Sapp Jr. (Ginger), Jeffery M. Sapp, Sr. (Joyce), five grandchildren: Perry L. Sapp III (Whitney), Trish Bryan (Jared), Lindsey Howerton (Scott), Tori Bowers (Marty), Jeffery Sapp, Jr. (Liz), Fourteen great-grandchildren: Madeline, Sean, David and Charli Sapp, Laynee, Ellie and Ivy Bryan, Lilly, Isaac and Maximus Howerton, Keleigh and Mackie Bowers, and Savannah and Jayden Kelley, and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her two sisters Mary Louise Tuten and Thelma Gaddi.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Hardeeville, 13 East Main St. Hardeeville SC 29927, on Friday August 27, 2021, at 11:00 am.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial in Hill Crest Abby West, Savannah Ga. 31405 at a later date.
