Glenn Murphy Scott, 71, of Ridgeland SC, passed away on August 6, 2023. He passed away at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida after a courageous battle with cancer. His family, who he cherished very much, was by his side until the end. Mr. Scott was born on October 13, 1951, in Newington GA to Ms. Betty Murphy Scott and the late Mr. Thomas W. Scott.
Well known in the community, Glenn was known as a hardworking, God fearing, compassionate man, who was willing to help someone when a need arose. He was a member of Hardeeville United Methodist Church in Hardeeville SC. He was humble in his approach to life and what he did for others. Mr. Scott owned and operated Hardeeville Truck and Tire in Hardeeville for 27 years. After “retirement,” he embarked on his second career as the owner of Old House Produce for 7 more years until his health wouldn’t allow him to continue.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sue Scott, mother, Betty Scott, children; Matthew Scott (Sherri), Warren Anderson (Ginger), Heather Boggess (Fred), Sherry Scott, brothers; Tom Scott (Cindy), Clyde Scott, Jimmy Scott (Gina), Wayne Murphy (Jackie), sisters; Teresa Hope (Jerry), Tillie Keiffer, Tracy Fialkowski, fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Hardeeville United Methodist Church, 109 Main St. Hardeeville SC 29927. The family will receive guests from 2:00 pm until the hour of service at the church.
