Emma Margaret Woods Cooler, 95, was welcomed home by her heavenly father and had a glorious reunion with her family and friends in Heaven on Tuesday November 9, 2021.
She was born at home in Ridgeland SC on December 8, 1925, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Milton and Dora Harter Woods. Emma was the oldest of 5 children. She was a loyal and devoted daughter, sister, and wife throughout her life.
Emma was raised by a Christian family and attended Great Swamp Baptist Church until marrying her husband William "Bill" M. Cooler. She then became a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church.
Emma was a homemaker and proud of it. She sewed beautifully, even making wedding gowns for two of her daughters. In her early years she was a beautician and cosmetologist. After marrying, she stopped working, but continued to "fix" family, friends and neighbors' hair at home for many years. She loved flowers and working in her flower beds. She was a wonderful cook, and well known for her date-nut cakes, pecan pies, ambrosia, sausage and rice... the list could go on.
She was proud that she voted in every presidential election throughout her life. She believed in voting. She loved her country, flag and the American way. Emma loved Christmas and enjoyed Hallmark movies, especially the Christmas ones.
We will miss our mother. Things will never be the same without her, but we're truly happy she is now with God, whom she truly loved, healthy and pain-free at last, and we will cherish the memories we have of her.
She leaves her children Vickie Caddell, David Caddell(Linda), Emma Jo Busby (John), Ellavese Heath (Eddie), and stepson, Billy Ryan (Nell), her grandchildren: Tracy Gruidl (Matt), Kim Taylor (Scott), Teresa Waldhour, Jamie Solesbee (Donnie), JoAnna Waldhour, Michael Heath (Courtney), Amy Heath, Robert Ryan (Michelle), Ryder Ryan (Marcie), and Rachel Ryan-deceased, her great grandchildren: Colin Gruidl (Ashley), Camryn Gruidl, Chase Taylor, Caroline Taylor, Cole Taylor, Katie Marschausen (Scott), Autumn Solesbee, Cameron Allbee, Ava Allbee, William Allbee, Theo Heath, Cameron Ryan (Mary Caroline), Clayton Ryan, Keely Ryan, and Jasper Ryan, great-great grandchild Holden Ryan, her brothers: Daniel Woods (Pat), Milton Woods (Susan-deceased) and sister-in-law Dot Cooler. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" M. Cooler, her sisters: Lucille Tuten (Morris) and Jeanette Vaigneur (Marvin).
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 11:00am in St. Luke's Methodist Church cemetery, 3080 Okatie Highway, Okatie SC 29909
