Ellen “Nanny” (Lowther) Hogsett, 89 of Ridgeland and widow of the late Harry Everett Hogsett, Sr passed through the Veil on September 18,2021 due to complications from Covid.

She was born November 20,1931 in Ridgeland, SC to the late Owen Roosevelt “Rosie” Lowther and Pearl Phillips Lowther Pitts.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. She was affectionately known by all those who loved her as Nanny.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ridgeland Ward and was the church librarian for over 20 years. She was a Temple Worker in in the Orlando, FL and Columbia, SC Temples. She held numerous church callings through her life. She was a homemaker and also a caregiver to many children over the years. She was known for her home cooked meals, homemade bread and red velvet cakes.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rosellen Hogsett Sims and Waneda Violet Hogsett and one son, Harry Everett Hogsett, Jr; one brother, Tex Lowther (Barbara); one step brother, Thomas Pitts and brother in law, Al Day, Jr; granddaughters Shea Scoggins Polk (David), Brett Scoggins Phillips (Donnie), Brenna Sims Owens (Bradley), Megan Hogsett Masters (Jimmy), Cissy Hogsett Zareva (Daniel Harvey), Juli Monaco and Denise Sims Smith. Great-grandchildren, Peyton Polk, Caden Phillips, Lenlee Phillips, Brenley Owens, Lexi Masters (Preston Bradley), Jake Masters, Josh Masters, Carter Zareva, Emily Whitkanack, Tres Mixson, Madison Mixson and Drew Shannon.One great- great granddaughter, Stella Bradley.

She was preceded in death by her brother, R.B Lowther, sisters; Thelma Lowther Day and Audrey Lowther Altman; granddaughter, Christie Monaco and two great-grandchildren Adam Polk and Sydney Polk.
