Elaine McMullen,99, of Hardeeville, SC went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2024. She was born June 2, 1925, in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana to Roy and Bonnie Miner McMullen. She graduated from Neville High School. One of the greatest generation she worked at the shipyard in Houston, TX during the great war. She was one of the many Rosie the Riveters who supported the war effort. After the war she studied nursing and worked at St Francis Hospital in Monroe, LA. She remained in Monroe until 1964 when she moved to SC to be with her sister as they ran Thomas Poultry Farm for many years.
Elaine was the last of 7 children: brothers Owen, George, Leroy and Jimmy McMullen and sisters Castalou Eppinette and LouiseThomas all preceded her. She was also preceded in death by her nephew Don Rogers.
Elaine is survived by nieces and nephews: Len Thomas, Bonnie Thomas Swygert (Duane), Joyce Rogers, Robert Eppinette (Gail), Jennifer Eppinette Kelly (Billy), Peggy Eppinette James (Ray), Corbet McMullen (Libby) and Robert McMullen. She is survived by grandnieces Donna Rogers Gaylord (Dennis) and Darlene Rogers Cochrane (Clyde) and grandnephews Leonard Thomas III and Bryan Thomas along with many great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC . The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
