Don Heller

Waymon Darnell “Don” Heller, a beloved resident of Guyton, Georgia, peacefully passed away at his home on July 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  Born on July 3, 1961, Don’s life was marked by his deep love for his family, his passion for the outdoors, and his dedicated work ethic.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite Woods Smith and Waymon Lafoy Heller.  He leaves behind his devoted wife of 22 years, Rena Levan Heller, his sister Melanie McGill of Guyton, and his children:  Waymon Charles “Chuck” Heller (Courtney); Mark Elliott Jervis (Lauren) of Rincon; Heather Marie Fisher (Adam) of Savannah; and Stephen Matthew Heller (Shawn) of Guyton, Georgia.  Don was a proud grandfather to fifteen grandchildren: Ashlyn Wood, Skyler Heller, Shelby Swaney, Hayden Swayne, Kyndal Swaney, Harley Fisher, Brantley Fisher, Keelie Jervis, Lindsey Jervis, Danny Jervis, Jordan Marsh, Peyton Cobb (Heller), Julianna Cobb (Heller), Bryleigh Cobb (Heller), and Brinson Heller.

Don’s life was filled with simple joys like his beloved dogs, fishing, and hunting, but his greatest happiness came from his family.  He dedicated 16 ½ years of hard work to Union Camp and ventured into entrepreneurship with his own shrimp boat “Heller Highwater”, for 6 years.  He later served the City of Rincon for 11 years until his retirement.

A service honoring Don’s life will be held at Sand Hill Baptist Church (1936 Sand Hill Rd, Guyton, GA 31312) on August 3, 2024, with visitation starting at 10 am, funeral to begin at 11am, with a burial following at Live Oak Cemetery in Varnville, South Carolina.  In his final days, Don found solace in his faith, knowing the Lord’s love and feeling blessed by his grace.  He will be remembered for his favorite saying “Lookie Here”, which he often used when calling others to attention, and the profound impact on all who knew him.

His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and community as a man who lived life fully and loved deeply.
