David Harrison Smith

David Harrison Smith, of Ridgeland, SC passed away October 10, 2020, at the age of 69 after a long illness.  He was born in Varnville, SC on October 8, 1951 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ruth D. and Angeline Stanley Smith.

David was a graduate of Ridgeland High School and retired from International Paper where he worked as a boiler operator. He was a long-time member of Bethel Tabernacle in Beaufort, SC.  David was an avid woodworker and frequently hand-crafted furniture and other items, a skill he passed along to his grandchildren, Isaac and Daniel.  He was married to the late Betty Jean Floyd and was always very involved with family and friends.  

David is survived by his three sons, David Smith (Reich), Christopher Smith and Kevin Smith (Sarah); six grandchildren, Skyler Adrian Smith, Isaac Smith, Daniel Smith, Paige Smith, Ira Smith, and Zachary Smith; and four siblings, Annette Brown, Elaine Ginn, Elise Long, and Frank Smith.  He is predeceased by six siblings, Margaret Smith, Evelyn Crapse, Lloyd Smith, Fred C. Smith, Shirley Long, and Pauline Stanley. 

Funeral services will be held at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Rd., Ridgeland, SC at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, with burial following in Ridgeland Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.  Pastor Jason Watkins will officiate.
