Coy Garbade

Herman Coy “Bobie” Garbade, 71, of Tillman SC, passed away on June 16, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 15, 1952, in Ridgeland SC to the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Lena Daley Garbade. 

“Bobie”, as he was known as to his friends, retired after 50 years of logging as the owner operator of Timber Products Inc.  During his years in the timber industry, he cultivated many lifelong friendships. He was a friend to everyone and will be missed very much.  Many stories have come from him and his friends’ hunting trips, motorcycle rides and getaways.  Somehow, they always seemed to have a “run in” with some type of predicament that made for a good laugh.  He had a big heart for helping others, and one way he showed it was by buying meals for people when he would see them dining out.   “Bobie” loved his Lord and enjoyed sharing his faith when he had the opportunity.  His love for storytelling and his God given ability to make others laugh, aided in making friends easily. When he was elected to the Jasper County Council in 2022, he looked forward to serving and making the county better.  He loved planting and watching his garden grow.  When the harvest came in, he would make sure everyone was made welcome, and was known to have the best sweet corn around.  His family will miss him dearly.  They knew he loved each one of them with all his heart.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Garbade, daughter, Sandi Perry (Bubba), stepson, Shelley Mims, grandchildren: Codie Mims, Collin Mims, Katelyn Mims, Jacob Johnson, Laci Johnson, and host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held on Friday June 21, 2024, at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland SC, at 3:00 pm.  A visitation will be held starting at 2:00 pm until the hour of service. Burial will be in Tillman Methodist Church Cemetery, 235 Cotton Hill Road, Tillman SC.
