Charles Robert "Chip" Sutler, 58, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Ridgeland, SC, Passed away on August 30, 2021, after an extended illness. Chip was born in Summerville, SC to Charles Henry Sutler, Jr., and Joyce Rushing Sutler on January 16, 1963.
Chip served proudly in the Army National Guard for over 15 years, but spent most of his life working outdoors. He was a caretaker on several working plantations as he cared for the animals and the land. In recent years he worked in landscaping and as a heavy machine operator. Chip was one of the most physically strong people you might ever meet, but he also knew how to have fun. He enjoyed nothing more than being with his family and friends. He was extremely loyal and high-spirited. He was a hard worker who cared deeply for others and was someone you could count on in a time of need. He was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church and he loved his Lord, Jesus. HIs favorite role was that of Granddaddy. He taught his grandchildren life skills and how to have fun. Next to being a wonderful husband, spending time with his grandchildren was his passion.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Phyllis Sutler, five children: Howard Craig, LaTisha Foote (Dylan), Tabitha Morris, Chad Sutler (Erynn), Emily Lamb (Billie), twelve grandchildren: Britney, Jakib, Anthony, Billy, Haylie, Brycin, Evangelia, Alyssa, Tristin, Ben, Addison, Jack, two sisters: Debbie Hale and Donna Smith (Donnie) and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, Chip leaves behind his cherished friend and "brother", of over 50 years, Andy Miles, along with many other friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on October 30, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Great Swamp Baptist Church, 9009 Tarboro Road Ridgeland SC 29936. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the church.
