Charles Julian Keiffer, 79, of Hardeeville, SC passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at his home. Charles was born on February 10, 1939 in Hardeeville to the late Charles and Mary Moody Keiffer.
Mr. Keiffer worked as a shop foreman for the Dixie Crystal Sugar Refinery in Port Wentworth, GA for 42 years before retiring. Charles also served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Hardeeville, SC for many years, on the Board of Directors for Thomas Heyward Academy in Ridgeland, SC for 26 years, as the president of Purrysburg Cemetery Corporation in Hardeeville, SC for over 30 years, and in the U.S. National Guard. He enjoyed deer hunting and farming, loved taking his grandbabies riding on his golf cart, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
Mr. Keiffer is survived by his wife, Tillie Scott Keiffer; two sons, Brad Keiffer (Jessica) and Christopher Keiffer (Cynthia); three daughters, Phyllis Youmans (Brook), Tammy Keiffer, and Susan Keiffer; one brother, Jerry Keiffer (Becky); four sisters, Eugenia Carothers (Ted), Mary Anne Stewart (James), Lillian Ruth Cawthon, and Dinah Keeton (Chuck); thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Katherine Keiffer; and one special friend and caregiver, Jo Creel. He was predeceased by two sons, Jay and Daniel Keiffer; one daughter, Charlene Young; and one brother Ellree Keiffer.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Hardeeville, 13 East Main Street, Hardeeville, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
