Catherine Weichbrodt, affectionately known as Kitten, 62, of Beaufort, SC tragically passed away on November 18, 2024. Catherine was born on September 16, 1962, in New York, NY to the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Catherine Angstadt Gioquinto.
She was the mother of two beautiful strong willed and independent daughters, Sarah Weichbrodt Sanders, of Easley, SC, and Catherine Churchwell of South Dakota.
Catherine was an outspoken, care-free spirit, nature enthusiast who had the uncanny ability to always put a smile on the face of those around her. She had a fondness for butterflies, a love for all shades of purple, and the ocean. Catherine worked at Ober Gatlinburg in Tennessee, which complemented her enjoyment of nature. She felt most at peace when outdoors and would wander aimlessly in such a way as to take in every element of God’s creation.
Catherine possessed a type of strength and bravery that was something like no other. She was faced with many difficult private battles. Some of those battles would challenge her in ways that seemed impossible to overcome and could unimaginably destroy her as a person. With such strength and bravery she was able to overcome many.
One of the most important people in Catherine’s life was her niece, best friend, and caregiver, Stacy Smith of Beaufort, SC. Catherine will always be remembered for her love of family. It was the profound and unbreakable bond of Great Niece, Natalie and Great Nephew, Jordan Gunter that showed the love she had for her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Sarah, Catherine; two brothers, Daniel Smith, Michael Gioquinto, Jr.; one sister, Kristie Messer; niece, Stacy, great niece, Natalie, and great nephew, Gunter. She was predeceased by one brother, Charles Smith.
