Barbara Bray Broxton, 88, of Ridgeland, SC, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022. She was born in Columbus, GA on March 28, 1934, and was raised in Garden City, GA by her parents, William Elbert Bray and Annie Laurie Edwards Bray.
Barbara graduated in 1953 from Commercial High School in Savannah, GA. She then attended Draughon’s Business School. Her first job was at C&S Bank in Savannah. She was a talented pianist. She taught piano at Al Dewitt’s Music Store in Rincon, GA, where she lived for many years and raised a family. While living in Westwood Heights, in Rincon, GA, she wrote a column in the Springfield Herald called, “Westwood Wanderings”. Barbara owned a music store in Ridgeland and taught piano for many years. She also ran an antique shop in Ridgeland on Main Street. She was a voracious reader and would sometimes read 3 books at one time. Most of all, Barbara loved to cook and bake for her large family.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles E. Broxton; daughters, Debbie S. Jordan and Angela C. Broxton; sons, Eric C. Broxton and Jeff C. Broxton, and stepson, Chuck Broxton (Joy). Grandchildren, Adam C. Jordan (Heather), Amber Jordan Tedesco (Matt), Jeffrey C. Broxton (Becca), B. Andrew Bennett (Alexis), Briana B. Tucker (Eddie), Heather B. Gay ( Bobby), C. Brannon Broxton (Lindsey), Elizabeth A. Broxton, Oliver J. Broxton, Owen Broxton and Leah Grace Broxton, and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Vaigneur Funeral Home Chapel, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC, on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 11:00am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Vaigneur Funeral Home.
