Ban Bihari Kapoor, 82, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 10, 1944, in Banga, India, Ban lived a life defined by kindness, dedication, and devotion to those he loved. He was known for his affection for animals, his generous spirit, and his enduring love for his late wife, Mary Alice.
Ban served as an electrical engineer for the United States Government for more than 30 years and took great pride in his work. His curiosity never faded; family members often recalled how he could spend an afternoon patiently repairing an old radio just to understand how it worked and then happily explain it to anyone who asked. In his free time, he enjoyed yardwork, music, and repairing and exploring all kinds of electronics, including radios and televisions.
Family was at the center of Ban’s life. He especially enjoyed sharing stories of India with his daughter and granddaughters, creating memories they will always cherish. Whether telling family stories around the table or taking time to help a neighbor in need, Ban found joy in making others feel welcome and cared for.
Ban is survived by his daughter, Kara Kapoor Malphrus (Jason), Granddaughters; Savannah Malphrus Bates (Jordan), Caroline Jane Malphrus, Stepdaughter, Alisha Walters Lewis (Stuart),sisters; Asha Kapoor of Atlanta and Toffee Sagar of Banga, India and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Alice Kapoor.
His legacy of love, strength and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their love, prayers and support during this difficult time. A special thank you to Ashley Lamb and Crescent Hospice for all the love and care you gave during our time with you.
Forever loved, forever remembered.
