Aaron Horry Obituary

Aaron Patrick Horry, 51, of Ridgeland, SC, was called unexpectedly home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 20, 2026.  He was born on March 29, 1974, in Ridgeland, SC, to Elias John Daniel Horry, lovingly and better known as Jondi, and Georgia Turner Beach.

He shared nearly 31 years of marriage to his best friend and the love of his life LaTesha, a connection that was made at Piggly Wiggly in April of 1989, but they always thought it was way before that, they always said “it was written in the stars.”  Aaron was a rambunctious little boy.  He shared time between Grahamville and Tillman.  Always wandering and exploring, thinking he was staying away from trouble but almost certainly turned into some kind of shenanigans.  He started school at Thomas Heyward Academy where he attended 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, (not a typo).

For anyone who knew Aaron, knew how stubborn and free-spirited he was, he didn’t like or wouldn’t conform to the structure and authority of a private school, so he graduated from Ridgeland High School.  He only did that because his father made it a requirement to work at Horry’s Water Well.  He began his career at Horry’s, where he and his brother Sean would go on service calls with their dad or tinkering around the shop yard with their granddaddy, ‘Tunks.’   You could say he worked there his whole life, but legally it would be around 46 years.

Aaron and LaTesha were married on March 18, 1995, but his fatherhood began in June of 1993 when Trenton was born.  Three years after that, Tristan came along, and they thought their family was complete.  Never think you know your plan, God said no, you are not done, so Talon came along 7 years later, a shock to them, but what a Godsend.  Aaron valued faith, family, friends, and his country as a true patriot through and through.  It was relevant in his everyday life.  He was brought up in the Episcopal church in Grahamville, which gave him that strong faith and love for the Lord.  Even though he didn’t attend any church regularly, he kept Christ in his heart.  It showed in all he did, whether it was by word or action.  He would tell his wife he wasn’t the best Christian because of his blunt, no-nonsense, non-victim mentality and she would say that he was one of Christ's Warriors.  He would always be there for friends or strangers should any need arise, a quality that goes way back in the Horry family tree.  Aaron’s work ethic was as strong as his love for family.  He was a jack of all trades and a master of none, although everyone would disagree about his drilling, but he said he didn’t do all the different kinds of drilling, just keep him in the Low Country Limestone.

Such a hard worker, that when the economy crashed back in 2009, Aaron and LaTesha started a side business, DJing.  It turned out to be a win-win.  They loved music, and they got to work together.  Fridays were probably the worst.  They would work 8 to 10 hours at their regular job and then turn around and show up at the nightclub or bar that hired them, play from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am and then get up on Saturday and DJ a wedding or a private party.  Exhausting! However, they kept their three boys in private school, nothing was repossessed or foreclosed on, even when businesses were closing and adults with their children were moving back in with their parents.  That’s the drive and perseverance that Aaron had.  Even as recently as nine months ago, he did his job at Horry’s Water Well and tried to fill the shoes of his father, an impossible task he thought, but Denise said he had become her rock and was doing a fine job, and that Jondi would be proud of him.  He instilled that hard work ethic, don’t stop attitude in his boys as well as everyone that worked with him.  He will be sorely missed and leaves a void that will be hard to fill.

Preceding him in death was his father, Jondi Horry, in-laws: Mack and Wanda Lowther; his paternal grandparents, Elias Edward and Evelyn Horry; and his maternal grandparents, George and Phyllis Beach.  Left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life are his wife LaTesha Lowther Horry, his sons: Trenton Horry (Bethany), Tristan Horry, Talon Horry, two grandchildren: Alena Soto and Sutton Horry, mother, Georgia Turner (Ard), stepmother, Denise Horry, brothers: Sean Horry (Lauren), Casey Turner, sisters: Caitlin Bryan (Daniel), Jeremy Langford (Jason), Gabrielle McDonald (Martin), brother-in-law, Trey Lowther (Yvonne), sisters-in-law: Angela Boyles, Miranda Graham (Tarl), twenty nieces and nephews and three great nieces and nephews, a childhood best friend, Brian Cleland and his adult best friends Herb and Tara Spaulding.
