William "Bill" Courtney Reid, Jr.

William “Bill” Courtney Reid, Jr., 96, of Ridgeland SC, passed away at Ridgeland Nursing Center, Ridgeland SC on January 2, 2018.  He was born on April 14, 1921 in Hammond LA to the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Lavinia Vincent Reid. 

Mr. Reid was self-employed as an architect, and a building contractor.  He served many years as a Baptist Minister, and was a pioneer of several churches in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.  He was a US Army veteran and served in the European Theater during WWII. He was a Gideon and in his spare time enjoyed wood working and building cabinets.

He is survived by his wife Betty H. Reid, two sons; James Reid (Sarakay) and Timothy Reid (Gina), two daughters; Victoria Gonzalez, and Deborah Beall (Gerald); ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, and two special friends; Rudy and Leighann Cleland.  He was predeceased by his first wife Aletha Jane Reid, one daughter; Janice Warren and a granddaughter Sara Elizabeth Reid.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Road Ridgeland SC 29936.  Family will receive friends from 10:00 am till the hour of service at 11:00.  Burial will follow at 1:00pm in the Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort SC.
