Thaire Hayden “Little Boy” Daley, Sr., 88, of Tillman, SC passed away April 15, 2017 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville, SC. He was born in Tillman, SC on November 28, 1928 to the late John E. and Lillie Hodges Daley. He was the youngest son of twelve children, earning him the nickname “Little Boy”, as he was known by all his friends and family.
“Little Boy” served in the U. S. Army in Korea, and was a butcher for Klugh Purdy for 28 years and owner of Daley’s Market in Ridgeland. He enjoyed farming with his best friend, Hayward Boyles, and loved to make cane syrup and cook for his family and friends.
“Little Boy” is survived by his sons, Thaire “Scooter” Daley, Jr. (Penny) and Jimmy Daley (Beth) and four grandchildren, Ashton, Cara, Ainsley, and Hayden Daley.
He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor VanDyne Daley, and by his eleven brothers and sisters, John “Bossy”, Oscar “Bubba”, Clarence “Son”, Elmer “Dude”, Curtis “Bunky”, Willard “Stallion”, Clyde (infant brother), and Zanelle “Nellie” Daley, Thelma “Sissy” Roy, Eliza “Dollie” Getsinger, and Lena Garbade, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held, at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Vaigneur Funeral Home Chapel, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC, with burial following at Sardis Cemetery, Ridgeland, SC. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 6pm - 8pm at Vaigneur Funeral Home.
