Randy Swailes

Randall “Randy” Brice Swailes, 64, of Ridgeland, SC passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, SC after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born on January 5, 1955 in Savannah, GA to the late Eugene and Alberta Hays Swailes.

Randy was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ridgeland, SC and an active member of the Men’s Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved the Georgia Bulldogs.  After high school, Randy began his 28-year career in the paper mill industry as a paper tender at Continental Can Corporation and continued as a paper machine superintendent for Stone Container until they closed the paper division in 1999. Randy was a member of the Georgia 1263 Millwrights and Carpenters Union. Remembered as “generous to a fault” and having a “jolly soul”, Randy was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cindy Swailes; one daughter, Kim Swailes Moore ; three brothers, W. C. Swailes (Paula), Harold Swailes (Minh) and Ralph Swailes; two sisters, Elizabeth S. Fries (Danny) and Ernestine S. Evans; and two grandchildren, Brice Swailes and Layla Moore. He was predeceased by one brother, Jimmy Swailes.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC.  Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 7488 W. Main Street, Ridgeland, SC. Interment will follow the service in Laurel Hill Lutheran Church Cemetery, 530 Laurel Hill Road, Clyo, GA.
