Harold Stanley

     John Harold Stanley, 80, of Grays, SC passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Memorial Health Center in Savannah, GA.  He was born October 6, 1936 in Ridgeland, SC to the Late Mr. and Mrs. Gettis and Juanita Smith Stanley.

     Mr. Stanley was a member and deacon of Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Grays, SC. After 30 years of service in each, he retired from the SC Army National Guard and the SC Department of Transportation.  His passion was for the Grays Fire Department where over his 52 years of devotion his contributions ranged from helping build the first fire department building to serving as Lieutenant. Mr. Stanley also worked part time for 15 years for the Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation District. In 2016, he was elected Grand Marshal of the Gopher Hill Parade and was honored as one of the longest working public servants in Jasper county. Throughout his active life the thing he loved the most was spending time with his granddaughter Olivia, whom he affectionately referred to as “Gator”.

     Surviving Mr. Stanley are his two sons, Fredrick Stanley (Pam) and Scott Stanley (Kimberly); one brother, Wallace Stanley (Jane); and two grandchildren, Jeffery Stanley (Lynn) and Olivia Stanley. 

     Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 4611 Beaver Dam Road, Ridgeland, SC, with burial following in the church cemetery.

     A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC.
