Don Edward Self

Don Edward Self, 75, of Hardeeville S.C., passed away on March 9, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.  He was born on February 18, 1949, in Shelby N.C. to the late Mr. and Mrs. R.D. and Madeline Benton Self.

Don was a mechanic for over 50 years and retired from Butler's Service Center in Hardeeville.  He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved boating, racecars, and motorcycles. He lived his life to the fullest and was always in the “fast lane”.  He was a loving brother, husband, father, and uncle who had a big heart and was always ready to help someone in need.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Fern Self, daughter, Kimberly Self Davis, brothers: Leonard Self (Penny), Daniel Self, sister, Sherry Grant (Ronnie), sister-in-law, Brenda Derhammer (Roy), and a host of nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday March 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm in Purrysburg Cemetery, Purrysburg Road, in Hardeeville S.C.
