Mack Pope, Sr

Mack Henry Pope, Sr., 85, of Ridgeland, SC passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville, SC.  He was born October 1, 1932 in Grays, SC to the late James Henry and Corine Smith Pope. 

     Mr. Pope was a member of Ridgeland Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for many years, and it gave him great joy to give the children candy on Sunday morning. He served in the U.S. Army and later worked for Union Camp Corporation in Savannah, GA, where he retired after 44 years of service. After retirement he spent his time repairing appliances, and hunting and fishing. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather

     Mr. Pope is survived by two sons, Mack Pope, Jr. (Bonnie) and Earl Pope, Sr. (Joyce); one daughter, Kitty Pope Burke; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Pope.

     A visitation will be held from 6 pm – 8 pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Rd., Ridgeland, SC.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Ridgeland Baptist Church, 1448 Grays Hwy., Ridgeland, SC. Burial will follow in Ridgeland Cemetery, Ingram Street, Ridgeland, SC.
