Gilbert Hayes

Gilbert Hayes, 82, of Florence, SC passed away at his son’s home in Hardeeville, SC on March 22, 2017. Mr. Hayes was born August 19, 1934 in Dillon, SC to the late Jasper L. and Eutha Snipes Hayes. He served in the U.S. Army for six years. Mr. Hayes enjoyed fishing and for many years owned and operated “The Fish Market” in Florence and Manning, SC and Hayes Tile company in Hilton Head, SC. He was a loving husband for 60 years and a loving father and grandfather.

     Mr. Hayes is survived by two sons, Theodore “Ted” Hayes (Debbie), and Richard “Dick” Hayes (Tracie); one sister, Lannie Rippy; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Tara), Brent (Donna), Joseph (Rebekah), Juston (Jennifer), and Abigail Hayes, Chelsea Zydonyk (Ryan), and April Allen (Freddie); and fourteen great grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Raynham Baptist Church, 5660 US HWY 301 S, Rowland, NC 28383. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 PM until the hour of the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
