Daphne Jones Floyd

    Daphne Jones Floyd, 81, of Ridgeland, SC, passed away at her son's home in Eastman, GA, on Thursday, December 07, 2017 after a long illness.  She was born on July 29, 1936, in Great Swamp to the late Elbert and Nella Mixon Jones. 

     Ms. Floyd was a graduate of Ridgeland High School Class of 1954, and later graduated from Bolden – Drones business school with an associate degree. She worked as the Assistant Executive Director of the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce and as a bookkeeper for the Jasper County Development Board until she retired. Ms. Floyd was a member of Ridgeland Baptist Church. She loved her church and served for many years as Treasurer, Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, WMU Director, and a member and occasional director of the church choir.  Ms. Floyd also loved serving in her community, assisting with the Gopher Hill pageants, as a member of the Gopher Hill Festival Committee, and as a long-time member and secretary of the Jasper County Historical Society.

     She is survived by her son, Jay Floyd (Kim); four grandchildren, Debbie Meador (Howard), Jayde Floyd, Chelsey Clark and Ryan Clark; three great grandchildren, Mary Ella Meador, Mason Meador and Laneah Balcarcel; and one sister in law, Barbara Jones.   She was predeceased by one brother, Paul Jones, and her daughter, Becky Floyd.

     Funeral services will be held at Ridgeland Baptist Church, 1448 Grays Highway, Ridgeland, SC, on Saturday, December 09, 2017 at 2:00pm with a visitation prior to the service, from 12:30pm until 2:00pm.  Burial will follow in the Great Swamp Baptist Church cemetery, 9009 Tarboro Road, Ridgeland, SC.
